Sunkissed Hair

Hey! This a new blogpost, I just don’t know why I deleted the draft just now.

😑 the downside of phone blogging

Oh well, lets write another one!

Let’s talk about my hair.

Lovely, right? Heheh let me tell you a story on how I get my hair sunkissed cantik beautiful.

Ivan, was looking for a hair talent, and me shamelessly offered myself to be hair-tortured.

I was slightly late for the appoinment (thank you for waiting,Ivan) and sat on the chair and let Ivan do his thing.

After getting rid of my split ends,my hair having quick wash to remove dirt & oil from my hair.

After drying, come the BLEACHING session. Getting rid of the black pigment from my hair is a bit tricky because my hair is stubborn just like me. So my hair turned orangey colour instead. Sobs.

I used to bleach my hair using drugstore product without knowing what is actually in the product. My hair previously  brittle and damaged and my hair fall was the worst!

Joico products has been so kind to my hair. After bleaching, I went for a really thoroughly hair washing to wash away the bleach.

Restoring back the nutritions back to my hair is crucial for the next step which was colours.

Applying colors is a very tough job, trust me I know. Its not like put here put there than voila! Nope, each strands of hair were being applied with different techniques ( i dont cant remember what was the techniques)

So, I sat for another 40mins + 25 mins more until the colours are all set.

My hair was wrapped with cling wrap lol

When all is done, I cant feel my butt because sitting for 6-7 hours, but then the results was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

By the time we were done its like 6:30 in the evening so we cant take photos under natural light and indoor lights wont do any justice either.

We’re done!

I would like to thank Azores HairWork Taman Tunku, for the great hospitality while me having 7 hours session. 😂, Ivan for being so thoughtful and very kind to me and most of all Joico Malaysia for giving me opportunity to try the products. Sangat suka! More collaboration in the future please☺️☺️☺️😌.

Having my break now.

The tragic news are flooding all over my social media page about the lead singer and musician of Linkin Park, Chester Bennington.

Lately we have been reading alot of suicidal tragedy. Let it be famous artiste, everyday people..you name it. Here’s a newsflash for you readers..DEPRESSION IS FUCKIN REAL.

I remembered when I am in such depression, anxiety and paranoia. I never talk about it to anyone. Suicidal thoughts haunting me and it keeps on coming in my mind.

You see, these thoughts are very very dangerous. You feel so isolated although you are with your friends,family..you feel unwanted although you ARE wanted. You start to withdraw yourself. Immersing in pool of anxiety, sadness and inferior complex.

Growing up, listening to Linkin Park’s songs, I really can relate to all of the lyrics written throughout the years. Trust me,the lyrics are the reflection of the lyricist. They day-to-day feelings about life they lived.

I know some of you have gone through deep sadness, mental issues and DEPRESSION. You are not alone. Please seek help, please talk, please.

Regardless of your beliefs, pray. Find peace in you. Never ever resort to any negative things. Although a ciggie or two can help at times 😌.

Mental illness is not a child play. Its high time for everyone to know that death is inevitable.

“I wanna feel, I wanna heal what I thought was never real, I wanna let go of the pain I’ve felt so long (Erase all the pain till it’s gone) I wanna find something I’ve wanted all along.. Somewhere I belong”

Somewhere I belong.

Rest well Chester.

Merapu

Currently laying down, reading whatsapp from various groups and thinking should I eat or should I just shut my mouth.

I left my office job for mere 7-8 months now. If you ask me if I’m missing 9-5 job, part of me will say yes..part of me will say no.

I am a person of skills. I picked up skills as I do my daily task. For example, I never had a formal training on photography, yet I learnt alot from my photographer friends, practicing and reading.

I dropped out of my college because I got pregnant. Well, before this I think it was the biggest mistake but then now, everything that has happened has its own blessing in disguise.

For me, I have no problem on catching up. I’m a fast learner ( I guess LOL)😅 Maybe thats my talent kot. Sadly, those talents of mine are mostly not on papers. For example,I was told that I am good (i don’t think so) in sales & marketing & customers service. But I got no papers to show it to my potential employers.

” I have few set of skills yet I don’t have the paper” 😂.

Jadi, apa yang saya ingin sampaikan sekarang ni is, sometimes kena ada scroll, sijil, certificates whatsoever baru dapat cari makan. Hahhahahah.

I am currently menangguh my Degree sebab tak larat and all. I hope when I am ready and I am larat to go back to school, I can study in peace.

Anyhoo, I am grateful for the job I have now if not I got no money to pay my bills and car. LOL No lah, this job of mine really pushed me to the limits of how far can I go, how skilled I am dealing with human beings, how elastic my heart can be. I just wondered for how long I can bertahan in this industry.

So readers, thank you for reading my tonight’s rant.

You guys rock! (If only I ada readers lah)
Till then,

XOXO

Confessions of a working mom

Solitude..

In my own room. After finishing my 8 hours shift, I showered, cooked sunny side egg and get dressed. Ate my supper under 5 mins because I was super hungry.
Its a total pleasure to have my own time( sebab anak dah tido) and time for me to chill after a days work. I’m sure you wonder what I do for a living; I’m a Barista. Yep,you read it right. Been jumping career since God knows how many time. And I settled being a barista(hope so will last).

I rasa some of you been wondering how can I manage between work, parenting and life. I do get alot of support from my siblings (they are my pillars),being the last one makes me a bit manja so emmm yeah. They do helped me taking care of my daughter (some of you might not know, I’m a SINGLE parent). My job requires me to work in shift hours so I NEED to play around with my time so that I can spend time with Mia (my daughter), Agus ( my better half, ehem) lol and my siblings and friends. (Yes I do have life outside of work)

My job can be tiring as hell but then I love what I do although sometimes I question myself why did I choose the “Barista Life” HAHAHA. But then,in the end I feel somewhat content that actually my job is fulfilling and I served my community well one cup at a time LOL.

On the other note, being mommy to a 7 year old girl memang sangat interesting. She questions everything, the WHY,the HOW,you name it. Sometimes I’m out of answers to answer her. Its hard to go to work at times because she will buat perangai(sulking ALOT) but then I have to explain to her why mommy has to go to work. A 7 year old might not understand my explaination but then she knows I will be home no matter what time I finish my shift.

I do miss alot of life events prior to my job but then, that is life..

When I think about it, I wanted to be a SAHM because I want to be there for her but then I can’t, I need to keep the ball rolling.

Oh well, ain’t no rest for the wicked until our eyes is closed for good.

Hey hey! Selamat berpuasa to all my muslim readers!

Yesterday night, Sarawak Bloggers once again been invited by Pullman Miri Waterfront for Ramadhan Client Appreciation night. And the best thing issss I get to bring “plus one” along so I brought Mia with me. Thank you Pullman Miri! Sayang sangat!

My awesome invitiation
Pullman Miri CSR Project

In conjunction with this coming Ramadhan month, Pullman Miri together with Interhill Group hosted a Pre- Ramadhan Dinner for the kids of Kompleks Kebajikan Hamidah Yakup and their caretakers.

This is the hotel’s first CSR project since they began their operation on April 2016.

Mr Jayson Chong,hotel manager
Mr Jayson’s welcoming speech last night was simple yet very meaningful. He’s saying that the Pre-Ramadhan dinner is part of their CSR commitment in giving back and reaching out as much as possible for community. He hoped that it can be a great example for our children by showing the spirit of unity and respect towards the festive season celebrated by Muslim.

We are proud to be able to showcase our unique culture here in Sarawak, where everyone celebrates all festivals together in harmony. I believe that most of us here would agree with me that there is no greater pleasure than being able to share our cultures and celebrations despite our background differences.

Celebrating the Orphans

This year Pullman Miri invited the children of Kompleks Kebajikan Hamidah Yakup and their caretakers as their special guests for the night. Seeing these little young people makes me thinking that this world is still full of good people, trying their best to reach out for the unfortunate. They enjoyed the night and had a very good meal.

Food Glorious Food

Who doesn’t love food? I mean this year Pullman Miri have varieties of Ramadhan delicacies to be offer to the guests. ( I’m still “meliur” thinking about food last night)

From local delicacies to international dishes, my take on this year’s spread is AWESOME (still meliur)

Borneo Jazz Festival 12th Edition

IT’S ALREADY BEEN WEEKS I AM STILL HAVING THE POST JAZZ WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOM

hey y’all! Have you been waiting for my blogpost on the recent Jazz Festival? Without further ado, LESGOH and read!

Last week I was invited for the second time covering 12th edition of Borneo Jazz Festival. I was stoked and feeling rather important somehow because this is an International event I was covering under the wings of Sarawak Bloggers Society.

I grew up listening to many kinds of music,my dad and my brothers are my biggest influence and I am grateful for that. My life revolves around music although I can’t play a single musical instruments. HAHA.

ENOUGH ABOUT ME, LETS TALK ABOUT BORNEO JAZZ.

Every year,Borneo Jazz has been doing some CSR Project in Miri, last year was tree planting (you can go to my last year’s blogpost) and this year was a bit different; we had Beach Cleaning at Luak Esplanade. Miri has been blessed with wonderful beaches, I always love to hang around the beaches sans the sandflies of course LOL. Nothing much to clean at the beach since it was on weekdays, probably we should go on the weekends, you can really see litters everywhere.

Charlie’s Angels must have pose.

MY TAKE ON THE PERFORMERS (MY FAVOURITES)

Since there were 12 performers this year, I am just going to highlight to you 3 of my FAVOURITES okay? Artistic Director Yeoh Jun Lin, has always been a maestro and I salute her for always bringing the best for Borneo Jazz year in year out. She has her eyes on every details about who will be performing, are the performers going to hype up the crowd? She is awesome in her field.

Zuhaili Zuhairi of ASWARA

This guy,had me glued at the press pit for a moment. His mesmerizing performance just blew me away. Doing some covers of the late P.Ramlee, he sure nailed it in his own way. I am truly proud to see young people getting interested in playing music and Borneo Jazz is an awesome platform for young performers like him and his bandmates to gain experience as well as having fun mingling with other international performers. Oh well of course I must have a selfie with Zuhairi ( I think he is scared of me bause I’m loud like that LOL)

Idang Rasjidi of  Indonesia

DSC_0394
He is the GODFATHER of Jazz in Indonesia,he is the familiar faces of Java Jazz ( one of the famous Jazz Fest in Indonesia) During the press conference, I am moved to ask him one simple question;which is ” How has the youth in Indonesia embracing Jazz music?” His answer was simple, We need to tell the youth that Jazz is a good music. We (the musicians) have to reach out to the youth no matter where they are, especially in the KAMPUNG ( village). It has to be the musicians come to every place to play music and expose the jazz music. No wonder Indonesia has at least 64 Jazz events (yes 64 seriously).

He performed with Idang Rasjidi Syndicate, which his 2 sons were the drummer & the bassist and I must say, I was really blown away by their energy that night.

LAILA BIALI (Canada)

She is BEAUTIFUL IN PERSON! I Can’t help but to take selfies with her after the press conference.

img_6112
me,Alyssa & Laila
She performed Coldplay’s Yellow with a jazzy touch which was SUPERB and got me to sing along with her. Originally she wasn’t into Jazz genre because she was majoring in classical music that explain on the night she performed I still can hear her classical influence in few of her numbers.

Osaka Monaurail

The best is always the last! That is how Borneo Jazz Festival keep the crowd hype and the momentum going. This band is the bomb! They bring back the 60’s  James Brown vibe to the fest, heavy funk influence that makes the crowd wants more even before and during their performance it was slightly drizzling and windy.

MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS

Borneo Jazz Festival has always been the festival I always look forward to go. I hope that it will continue to be in Miri for many years to come. I always had fun working along with Sarawak Tourism Board and grateful for the opportunities given by them. Looking forward for next year!

Jazz is universal and humble, let’s make it that way. Forever and always.

Chef Desmond Chia’s Masterclass

Hello Readers! How have you been? I’ve been slacking off (not really) I’m busy most of the time working and work has been sucking the life out of me.

Oh well, lets get to the main topic (as seen on the header).

Last Thursday, Sarawak Bloggers (MYY Bloggers) was invited by Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel for a special masterclass. Ladybird a.k.a Eileen texted me beforehand telling me that she passed my contact number to a guy name Joe something about food review at Pullman. When she mentioned FOOD, I AM IN!  (FOOD IS BAE Y’KNOW) Jokes aside, I said okay and Joe contacted me,I think he called me a few times until I finally answered. I WAS BUSY ALL DAY sorry Joe hahaha.

A little bit about Chef Desmond

He was born in 1976 in Bahau,Negeri Sembilan (Oghang Nogori nih). He had his humble journey and got a job in KL as a Dim Sum Chef. He joined various World Renowned Hotels mostly mastering in Asian Cuisine as in Dim Sum,Pull Noodles and Mooncake.

He came back to Malysia in 2015 and currently working in Pullman Kuching as a Dim Sum Chef.

When I first met him, to me he is a shy person but very approachable and funny. Expert in his field, he shared his knowledge to us and that is one of a good trait of a chef.

The making of Xiao Loong Bao

With apron and chef hats, all of us started with our first class which was making the Xiao Loong Bao.

The process of of making this bao looks easy seriously looks easy. But once we get our hands on them. IT WAS A MESSSSS! We giggled,we laughed and we tried our best to make our hand made bao look at least decent but naahh..maybe we need extensive class to do that LOL.

Hand Pulled Noodles

After the mess making bao,we had a little rest before moving to the next sesh which was the Hand Pulled Noodle. The process take a lot of “dancing movements”; and the reason why I said dancing movement so that the protein in the dough will be spread evenly.

To be honest,I really suck pulling the noodles so I gave up half way and just observed others. I did tasted the noodle in the end, although I didn’t manage to make it on my own.  We ate the “fruits of our labour” at the end of the class, I DO ATE ALOT OF THE BAO because it taste sooo good.

So that was it,my first hand on experience joining masterclass hosted by Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel. Twas an awesome day for me, to get to know new people, learning new things that I thought I wouldn’t get to learn before this. Thank you so much to Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel once again and hoping for a future collaboration.

How to join the masterclass?

Please call Ms Pira at 085-323 888 ext 8224

Price for the Masterclass: RM88nett.

Open for public.

Come one come all. Learn while you still can.

Till then,

XOXO

Chicken Consomme with Dry Scallop & Waterchestnut

1) Chicken Consomme with Dry Scallop & Waterchesnut

My first impression on this soup was,”wow, intersting” and my first sip of the soup,it brings me back to my childhood. My late mom’s soup tasted like this and I was so excited finishing it off. The crunchiness of waterchestnut, the soft n tender chicken n scallop,I WANT THE RECIPE PLEASE CHEF LOL

Braised Chicken with Supreme Chinese Herbs & Korean Ginseng

2) Braised Chicken with Supreme Chinese Herbs & Korean Ginseng

This Braised chicken is the BOMB! My second favourite dish and why I said this is my fav,the meat was so tender & soft, all the herbs perfectly in sync and the most important is,the ginseng doesnt overpower all of the ingredients.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Two flavour prawn dish combination

3) Two flavor Prawn Dish Combination.

For me,this dish,I just can say its a normal everyday-I-can-get dish. Not much of a prawn fan but the presentation was not that bad at all.

Steamed Chinese Pomfret “Teow Chew” Style

4) Steamed Chinese Pomfret “Teow Chew” Style

I think this pomfret fish is chinese. (Dry joke im so sorry) Pomfret is always my favourite fish because of its’ tender and sweet meat. And in my household, pomfret is some kind of luxury fish due to its’ market price. Upon tasting this dish,i like how it presented, subtle taste and homey kind of feeling.

Stir Fried Assorted Vegetables with Cashew Nuts

5) Stir Fried Assorted Vegetables with Cashew Nuts

Ahhh vegetables…hahaha I am very picky when it comes to vegetables. In my opinion, this dish more to like homecook vege style. The cashew nuts gave the dish a nutty notes and the crunchiness of the noodles gave a lil bit of different ways to eat vege.

Steamed Rice in Lotus Leaf

6) Steamed Rice in Lotus Leaf

Since it was the last dish presented, I was full so I just take little rice on my plate. The taste was okay and very filling I should say

Chilled Sweetened Avocado & Mango Cream accompanied with Pamelo

7) Chilled Sweetened Avocado & Mango Cream accompanied with Pamelo

Dessert at last. Very fusion dessert I must say. The yin and yang touch are obvious as you can see in the picture. And hint of Pamelo beads in between. Too sweet though but for me it was very kind interesting dessert for everyone.
